Dan is an experienced open water swimmer with a number of open water marathon swims under his belt, including Windermere, Llyn Tegid / Bala, Crummock water, numerous sea swims and in 2022 he completed a solo English Channel swim. Dan will ensure that the water is safe and that our guests get the most out of the experience. Dan is passionate about both swimming and conserving the natural environment, especially our water ways.

Open water swimming offers a unique and rewarding experience compared to swimming in a pool.

Swimming in open water can increase your heart rate and improve your cardiovascular fitness. Battling against currents and waves can help you build endurance and stamina. The varying resistance of open water can help you develop stronger muscles, particularly in your core and legs. The fluid movements required for open water swimming can improve your flexibility.

The tranquility and beauty of natural environments can help reduce stress and anxiety. Spending time in nature can boost your mood and overall well-being. Overcoming challenges like cold water and unpredictable conditions can boost your confidence. Open water swimming can foster mindfulness and a sense of connection with nature.

So all the more reason to join Wellbeing Walks and our open water swimming expert on a Wild Swimming Event. Here’s an example: Walking and Wild Swimming in the Lake District – Wellbeing Walks – Out the office into nature
