Walking Safely as a group of employees is really important. It can be dangerous to hike/walk in hot weather if you don’t take precautions.
Here’s some top tips:
- Starting your hike early in the morning can be a good way to avoid the hot afternoon sunshine.
- Wearing sunscreen and a hat and reapplying sunscreen is essential.
- Pack your sunglasses to protect your eyes.
- Drinking plenty of fluids is important, this is so simple, but so easy to forget!
- Remember to dress in loose-fitting, breathable clothing too.
- Choosing a hike that is appropriate for your fitness level and ensure you know the route so you don’t get lost.
- Maybe try a hike with less elevation gain as UV is stronger the higher you go and take regular breaks.
- You can choose a hike that is located in an area with shade, so dense woodland ideal for walking safely in the summer months.
- You may also want to pack a water filter, a first-aid kit, and a map of the trail alongside your mobile phone.
- If you are safe and not alone and know the water, then a perfect time to try a wild swim!
