Brewing with Purpose: Inside Cheltenham’s Craft Beer Legends, DEYA
A few weekends ago, myself and Jon, the founders of Wellbeingwalks took a trip down to Cheltenham for a special visit to DEYA Brewing Company. We were treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the brewhouse hosted by their head brewer, getting a firsthand look at how one of the UK’s most respected craft breweries makes its iconic beers.
We are also very excited to say that they will be delivering an exclusive craft beer tasting session at one of our upcoming events this October!
If you’ve ever stepped into DEYA’s Taproom (known as “The Tappy”), you already know it’s one of the best spots in the Cotswolds. The space is vibrant, welcoming, and filled with incredible artwork, creating a relaxed, community-focused atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease.
And then, of course, there’s the epic beer.
DEYA built its reputation on soft, juicy, tropical, and wonderfully hazy beer.
- Steady Rolling Man (5.2% Pale Ale): Widely regarded as one of the finest pale ales in the UK. It’s absurdly drinkable, incredibly soft, and bursting with tropical hop aromas.
- Magazine Cover (4.2% Session IPA): Light, crisp, gluten-free, yet packed with intense hoppy flavour
- Into The Haze (6.2% IPA): A classic example of DEYA’s signature hazy IPA style—juicy, citrusy, and deeply satisfying.
Staying connected to nature and making sustainable choices is central to everything we do. Brewing beer is naturally a resource-intensive process, but what impressed us most during our tour was DEYA’s proactive, transparent commitment to lowering their environmental footprint.
Instead of just talking about eco-friendliness, DEYA conducts full carbon audits to measure their impact.
DEYA installed a CO₂ capture system that traps, cleans, and stores this gas so it can be re-used to carbonate their beer. The entire brewery operates on green energy supplied by wind and hydro power. None of DEYA’s operational waste goes to landfill and 100% of their spent grain and hops are picked up by local farmers to feed livestock, returning organic nutrients directly back to local agriculture. They have a beautiful, well kept vegetable garden out the back too which helps feed their team.
