Sound Baths & Meditation

Our amazing partners that provide Sound Baths and Meditation tell us a little more about it here and how they could benefit your employees…

Clare & Jonathan, The Wellness Webb, are experienced facilitators of Gong Sound Healing sessions. Sessions usually start with a short guided relaxation meditation, to help prepare the body and mind. This can vary in length, and some light stretching or restorative poses can also be incorporated, to suit the groups needs.

During the sound baths, the main instruments are the gongs, which are harmonised with Crystal & Tibetan Bowls, and Koshi Chimes. ‘Paiste’ Gongs are masters of sonic craftsmanship. Hand-hammered in the traditional way.

A ‘planetary’ gong bath allows the recipient to experience the energy of the planets and stars through the vibrations created by the gong. All in the service of emotional wellbeing. During a gong bath the mind is significantly quietened, leading to the opportunity to rest in awareness – a break from daily stresses and an invitation to dissolve into a state of harmony and bliss.

The planetary gong is Chiron which represents all aspects of ‘Wellness’. The pitch is D# – the Sacral Chakra, promoting fluidity and connectivity in relationships, emotions, creativity. It is also tuned to the Third Eye (Intuition, the source of all knowledge) and Throat Chakra (tapping into the art of self-expression and communication).

The Bronze Gong (#4 ) – Bronze Gongs are versatile & abundant in their frequencies & harmonics. They generally possess a lower and more voluminous sound than nickel ones.

All matter produces vibrational sound, audible and inaudible. As well as through hearing, vibrations are also transmitted via the skin, fluid and bones. Our whole bodies are receptive. (Water conducts sound 4-5 times faster than air, and bones are also very conducive. Drs can detect where breaks are in a bone, using a tuning fork, for example).

The vibrations of sound healing instruments penetrate deep into the tissues. This therapeutic use of sound, with meditation can…

  • Improve blood circulation and metabolism
  • Regulate muscle tension and deeply stimulate the tissue.
  • Assist recovery from illness, via stimulating the systems for regeneration and repair.
  • Ease anxiety and depression
  • Help the mind access greater focus & creativity
  • Bring greater self-awareness, leading to psychological expansion

They are therefore, a perfect addition to your event, post hike or walk.

Sound healing is both activating and relaxing – so it can also have a refreshing effect. Many people find it very relaxing, some will fall asleep! But how it affects you is very much a personal thing, different people will feel differently, on different days. There is no right or wrong way to experience a sound bath.

The instruments are tuned to various tones / frequencies, but they are very organic in nature. They can seemingly create sounds from nowhere, and harmonise with, or bounce off, each other, in a multitude of ways. Therefore, no two sound baths are really the same, and we often say the instruments almost play themselves.

We can build a sound bath into our Wellbeing Walks overnight events, in the evening to aid a good night’s sleep or first thing in the morning to relax you and set you up for the day ahead. Here’s an example itinerary
