Hiking & Board Games in The Brecon Beacons National Park (Bannau Brycheiniog) – A fully catered weekend with a challenging but beautiful hike in the mountains.
🌿✨⛰️Join us for an unforgettably fun and relaxing, fully catered weekend retreat in the breathtaking Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), a mountain range and national park in South Wales. The location is easily defined by its dramatic landscapes of rolling hills, ridges, and deep valleys. The mountains, largely formed from old red sandstone, feature a distinctive north-facing escarpment shaped by glaciers.
The end of February is nearly the beginning of spring and often the weather is crisp and sunny but likely to be fairly wet underfoot, so we recommend warm and waterproof clothes and boots. One thing we can’t control is the weather but we can plan to bring the right clothing and a full kit list will be provided. We’ll take care of everything, so you just need to pack and turn up!
The accommodation is approximately an hour from Swansea, Cardiff, and Newport, around two hours from Gloucester and Bristol, and roughly three hours from Birmingham.
What to expect:
- 🌄 Guided hikes through beautiful mountains on the Saturday and Sunday. Our trained leaders will ensure it’s an enjoyable and safe hike and tell you about the local area. We will have options.
- The full circular hike is between 10km (6 miles) and 15km (9 miles) depending on the weather and how the group is feeling and but there are several options to shorten or lengthen it. Expect a mix of terrain, including stone-flagged paths, grassy fields, tracks, and potentially some muddy sections, especially after rain. There will definitely be some uphill climbs and downhill sections on the route.
- 🥗 Wholesome, healthy meals prepared using local produce where possible, catering for all dietary requirements. Enjoy hearty cooked breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday mornings and satisfying dinners on the Friday and Saturday evenings. We will provide a packed lunch too for the hike so you don’t have to worry about anything.
- 🛏️ Two nights accommodation in a cosy cottage right in the heart of nature, with female & male only shared rooms.
- 🎲Do you love a good board game? Scrabble, Jenga, Monopoly, Uno, Chess! We will have time in the evening to get some competitive games going on in front of the fire!
- 🔥A snuggly open fire to relax by in the evening and some stargazing under clear skies (weather permitting!)
